The most magical time of the year… I’m due this month!!!

It’s December… in fact we’re one week in!!!! How did this happen?!

This year has flown by and so much has happened. And I am 24 days away from my due date!!! Thankfully I am prepared!

After a risky week this week of Matt being in America and my midwife telling me she’s engaged and nearly ready to go and measuring me as huge, we are all good! He’s home, my bags are packed, my Christmas presents are “mostly” packed, the tree is up, I have written a few cards and posted the ones I needed to post. I am ready.

This weekend we are taking Erin to see Santa so once that’s out the way we will be ready to go! I’m actually weirdly excited about giving birth again.

We have done hypnobirthing and after originally thinking it was going to be “a bit hippy” both Matt and I are loving it.

I am also going to be freeze drying my placenta into tablets. I get it if you think it’s weird but all the helpful information that Mandala Birthing has given me, ensured it was definitely the right decision for me.

I couldn’t eat my placenta raw but in a tablet it’s fine, I can’t imagine what they put in normal tablets that you don’t know about, so at least I know it’s all pure.

The effects of taking placenta pills are as follows:

  • Iron– essential for oxygen absorption in the cells.
  • Vitamins B6 – aids the making of antibodies.
  • Vitamin E – for healing damaged skin cells.
  • Oxytocin hormone – essential for facilitating birth and breastfeeding.
  • Corticotrophin – releasing hormone (CRH) responsible for reducing stress levels.
  • Cytokines – fibroblasts that trigger cell metabolism healing and the replacement of damaged cells and tissue.
  • Thyroxin – it helps you to return to your pre-birth weight in just half the time after birth.
  • Stem cells – helping to repair damaged skin and boost collagen production in the skin.
  • Oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone – contribute to mammary gland development, stabilise postnatal mood, regulate postnatal uterus cramping, decrease depression, and normalise and stimulate libido.

If they work and give me all of these benefits it’s a no brainer isn’t it!

Even better the lovely Donna has sent everything I will need for the big day and explained everything in detail it’s been great- she has been there for everything I need and even answered questions about Group Strep B as I found out I have this and will need antibiotics.

Thankfully the lovely people at my birthing centre have said I am still able to give birth there and that they will do everything to make my birth as relaxed and as calm as I wanted it to be in the first place and I only need a 20 minute drip every 4 hours. Which is relief!

Other than this I’m pretty sure everything is ready! Just keeping busy and even helping out at Erin’s school on a Wednesday! You know- what else is maternity leave for!! Ha!

Are you all prepared for Christmas??
