Baby-moon at Beech Hill Hotel and Spa- Review

It’s Saturday morning, yesterday I finished work for maternity leave and had an amazing baby shower. We woke early and set off for a complimentary night in the Beech Hill Hotel in Lake Windermere. I have always wanted to go to the Lake District so was extremely excited.

From our house the journey was around 3 hours but was quite a relaxed journey along the motorway and then through beautiful countryside in stunning winter sunshine.

On arrival (12pm) the outside appears dated but when we went in, everything was much more modern and we were greeted by friendly staff on reception. They confirmed our room wouldn’t be ready until 3pm (this isn’t detailed on the website) however, she would try and hurry it up and we could use the bar in the mean time. The lobby and main reception is well maintained and pwas welcoming and relaxed. The views are beautiful and just made you want to stare out of the window!

We did a quick google of things to do and found there was a High street in Bowness-on-Windermere, along with several walks and stunning waterfalls and lakes to visit. Due to me being 8 months pregnant walking isn’t a high priority, so we headed for the high street for some lunch and a wonder around. To my delight there was a Joules store!! Whooopp! You know what happened there! ?

We managed to have a walk around and some lunch and that very quickly took us to 2.30pm and we headed back.

Five minutes after our return our room was ready. We went to our room and had a look around. The room is nice, practical and has amazing views. Unfortunately on closer inspection aspects of the room are a little dated and in need of repair but it isn’t anything major and doesn’t affect the use of the facilities.

The facilities in the room included-

  • Tea and coffee making facilities with hot chocolate, tea and coffee.
  • Guides for the local area.
  • Seating area and table.
  • Television with Freeview.
  • En-suite bathroom with bath/shower and toiletries.
  • This was the absolutely stunning view from our window! And the sunset was magical.
  • On Saturday evening we went for dinner at Burlington’s restaurant in the hotel and then snuggled up in bed for an early night as pregnancy tiredness hit!

We got a good sleep, although the room walls are quite thin so you can hear people walking past, this wasn’t a bad thing as we sleep through anything and the room was a tad on the hot side so we opened the windows. Breakfast is served 8am-10am on a weekend and was really nice with plenty of choice.

Matt had booked me a Indian head massage in the spa at 10am which was really simple to do on the website with a calendar and payment system available in a few clicks of a button. So we both headed to the spa for some relaxation.

First impressions is the spa is really nicely designed and was clean and welcoming. You need to pay £5 each for the use of slippers and robe, which I would normally expect to be included.

There is a indoor pool with loungers, outdoor jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. We really enjoyed our relax at the spa and my Indian head massage was amazing and I feel so relaxed.

All in all the stay at the hotel was really nice and relaxing and we enjoyed ourselves. As with anywhere that isn’t brand new there are areas of the hotel that could be updated, but the views definitely made up for it. For the cost of the room rates I don’t think it’s overpriced and the spa was lovely. If you want to find out more information about our stay head to Beech Hill Hotel and Spa.
